This cookie is especially tasty at Christmas time; sugar coating makes the cookies sparkle


Ingredients

  • ¾ cup shortening (melted & cooled)
  • 1 cup white sugar (plus sugar to coat the cookies)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 2 cup flour
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ½ tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt

Directions

  1. Add sugar, egg & molasses to the melted & cooled shortening; beat slightly
  2. In another bowl, mix together soda, flour, cloves, ginger, cinnamon & salt; add to the first mixture
  3. Roll into balls & then roll in white sugar
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes
