Chocolate Sheet Pan Cake

Ingredients
Cake
- 2 cup flour
- 2 cup sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 4 tbsp (heaping) cocoa powder
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup boiling water
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 2 whole beaten eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
Icing
- ¾ cup butter
- 4 tbsp (heaping) cocoa powder
- 6 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cup powdered sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Combine flour, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl. Melt butter in a sauce pan, add cocoa powder and stir together. Add boiling water and let boil for 30 seconds then turn off heat. Pour over flour mixture and stir lightly to cool
- Pour the buttermilk into a measuring cup and add eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Stir mixture into butter/chocolate mixture. Pour into sheet pan and bake for 20 minutes
- While cake is baking, make the icing. Melt butter in a saucepan and add cocoa - stirring to combine, then turn off heat. Add milk, vanilla and powdered sugar then stir together. Pour over warm cake
- Cut into pieces and enjoy
